Hello!
I would like to introduce myself. I am Dr. Leroy Meissen, owner and operator of Progressive Veterinary Services of Salisbury, Missouri.
I originally grew up in Salisbury on a family farm. My family consisted of eight siblings of which I am the youngest. My brothers are still running farming operations along with a few of my sisters. Farming, back then, consisted of row crops and livestock ranging from chickens and sheep to hogs and cattle.
I graduated Salisbury High School in 1984. Then I attended Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State University) for three and a half years studying biology. Then I transferred to Oklahoma State University and studied animal science and worked toward a minor in chemistry. I was accepted in veterinary school and graduated in the Spring of 1994.
I immediately returned to my home town and began plans to buy out a local veterinarian, Dr. W.W. Leatherwood. In August of 1994 I purchased the practice and my service began.
I can honestly say around here every day is unique. I work mainly on dogs, cats, cattle and sometime horses. The variety keeps me sharp and allows me to enjoy my career. I hope you will explore this site and if we can be of service please call. Thanks
Leroy H. Meissen, DVM
